YAYS!!!

My Green Card has been approved!!!!
YAYS!!!
*jumps gleefully around the room*

I am now officially a legal permanent resident here in the States - woot! I am so happy that this part is over with :D Now all I need to do is renew my passport and I will be free to go back home to Vancouver to see my family and friends!! I have not been back home for like a year and a half, and I really miss it - the ocean, the weather, the mountains, the people….. I have been dying to go for a walk along the West Van Seawall, with a chai tea in my hands hehe

The interview was on Monday, all the way in San Antonio (which is like a three hour drive for us each way). We had to take Ginger and Marzipan to the vet, since we would be gone allllllll day. The ride was not as bad as I thought it would be - I did fall asleep though lol making it seem shorter - and we filmed parts along the way with our new Camcorder!!!

Camera

It’s a Sony DCR-SR42, and so far we LOVE it. It has a built in 30g hard drive, so no tapes or disks needed! Having a camera takes me back to high school hehe we had a super awesome film and video class, where we got to make short films and whatnot - it was my favourite class for sure :D I even won some awards in a couple student film festivals….*sighs* good memories.
Anywho, we got there early so we had some lunch and looked at XM radio vs. Sirius Radio at Best Buy. When we got to the interview building, we had to wait to be called for the interview, but luckily it was right on time! The fellow who did the interview was super nice, and all we did was chat for about 20 mins. He then took out the approval stamp and it was done! lol soo painless and easy!! Not that we have anything to hide, but you always wonder if they are gonna put you on the spot about something weird lol.

And with all the horror stories we have heard about the Green Card process, I think we have been pretty lucky! We got a wonderful Lawyer who made things a hole bunch easier, and the process was relatively quick too - I mean, we filed our paperwork at the end of June, I think…thats less than 6 months!

I am just sooo happy that this is done, and we do not have to worry about it for another 2 years (when I apply to get my conditions removed).

David and I did not get back till late that evening, so the puppies had to stay the night at the vets. It was lonely in the morning when I woke up with no one around. But Dave was a sweety and brought the pups back at lunch time :D

Sadly with all the stress leading up to the interview, the past weekend I barely got any work done - my mind could not concentrate. I am behind on my projects, and it doesn’t help that I am a perfectionist, making this take even longer lol. Picky picky Lindsay, going over all the details :P

David and I also invested a wee bit of money into an XM Radio!! After looking at both Sirius and XM, I decided I liked the channels on XM better - they have some awesome Indie Music stations, plus better talk and comedy channels ( I rather listen to Oprah than Martha any day). The best part is that I can listen to it on the computer too! So tonight when the channel The Verge is playing a Stars concert live, I can just tune into it on the computer!! YAYS!! <3 Stars<3 They also play other awesome bands like The New Pornographers, Feist, and Kevin Drew. I know I will be listening to this channel a ton while working on the computer, and on my new Art Journal.

Oh, and since I have started this art journal, my work station has become an art-disaster zone!!

workspace2workspace

I will definitely post my journal entries later :D I am having soo much fun playing with my new materials - I found out that watercolours are not as scary to use as I thought they were lol
Oh! and I just want to say that I am super proud of my mom and my hubby for making one too!! Let your muse come out to play!!! hehe

Yikes! I have written another long entry!
and the puppies are whining up a storm next to me…..ugh…..they slept all day yesterday and are making up for all their lack of attention today lol…..every half an hour to go pee is a little too much I think….they are soooooo just pretending…..sneaky little monkeys.

Have a super duper Wednesday tout le monde!!

Inspiration

Due to my constant trolling of other people’s blogs, I have discovered a fabulous woman on youtube named Suzi Blu
I happened upon a link to her on one of my favourite blogs, Michelle my belle.

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

Suzi is an artist who is studying to become an art therapist - and I think that she will be excellent as that too!! She is soooo inspiring and positive - her videos are addictive, to say the least!! I can stop watching them!! she has inspired me go out and get a Moleskine journal, which has now become my first Art Journal :D YAYS!! I have had many sketch books in the past, but this one is different - it is my little sanctuary where I can create anything. I also really love watching the videos of her paint and create her works of art - its sooooooo cool! I hope to one day be as brave as her, to be able to go out of my comfort zone and try different mediums together. I guess thats where the Art Journal comes into play - a place to explore art.

So, I am encouraging everyone to make an art journal!!
My husband David is going to make one, and I am trying to convince my mom to start one too :D
So far I have written my name on the front page, but it’s a start!!

Other than constantly looking at her videos, I have been super busy!! My secret project is almost done (shhhhhhh) and I have another big project due at the end of the week!! Yays for lots of work!!!

Sadly, the last week and a half has been an art-write-off - we had friends come down to visit and then a medical emergency last week! So yah….it has been fun and stressful.
BUT! This is a short work week for my hubby, so it will be nice to have him around while I work :D Woot!! The doggies will have another person to whine at hehe

I am off to relax for a bit!

Don’t forget to check out more Suzi Blu Videos!! She really is amazing :D
And I have a link to her Blog on the side!!

Have a good night everyone!!

Indiepublic Rocks

No art of mine to show today, or this week it seems - I am working on a “secret project” and its definitely top secret - shhhhhh lol

I started making another Mr. Mouse illustration today though, so when hes done I’ll post it :D

And as you might have noticed, and as I mentioned two posts ago, I joined Indiepublic!!

Visit Indiepublic
I can’t get over all the talent on there - its crazy! I have become addicted to looking at people’s pages and commenting on their work. It has been such a source of inspiration for me - I really wish I could do the things that some of these people can do!Like today, (maybe 20 mins ago lol) I found a young lady named Sarah Miskelly - she is from the UK and her work is phenomenal. She makes adorable and fun plushies, and is an amazing illustrator. I LOVE her work. I can only hope that one day I can draw like she does :D

I also met Laura today- another young talented woman, who makes the cutest hats and bags!! David loves the monster laptop bag and the hats too - maybe a fun gift for christmas? :O She seems so positive and happy, and loves what she does - she is one of my new favourite people on indie hehe

Then there are artists which I have admired for a LONG time, and have even bought goods from! Like Jennifer Wood - she made my gorgeous necklace for my wedding,

necklace

and I have loved her work ever since seeing her at Craft Circle back in 2005 (in Vancouver).

Also Woodeye Studios is on Indiepublic - he made our champagne flutes for the wedding hehe.

His work is so fabulous!
Others include MadameBogg , Gorjuss, and Tiddlyinks - all of which I found on Etsy, and have admired from afar. Its great to be able to let them know that I love their work :D very cool indeed

Oh there are soooooo many talented people!
Check out my Indiepublic page and visit all my “Friends” - you wont regret looking!!

And now I must get back to Mr. Mouse :D

Have a great Friday everyone!!!
