okay so I’m slacking again
lol
I meant to do a big 2009 post at the beginning of January…but obviously I never got around to it
I kept hoping I would get my new blog design up and running, so my first post of 2009 would go with it, but its harder than I thought.
So here is my first post of 2009!

First lets do a very short recap of Christmas – it was wonderful! David’s family came down to see us, and it was so much fun to have a full house! I really wish we lived closer to them. I want to be that fun, artsy Aunt, that spoils her niece and nephew lol.
David got me a totally awesome gift – Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog!!!

if you have not seen it, then omg, GO WATCH IT!! it is so freakin funny and well done! The DVD has a totally hilarious musical commentary too, hehe I absolutley LOVE Neil Patrick Harris now!!<3<3

I made my family some cartoons of themselves for their Christmas presents. I had left it to the last minute, so I only did my two brothers, and my sister with her fiance. Ross and Alex turned out better, so I plan on redoing Tracy’s and giving her a new copy later this year.

Okay, so next on the list is my “Goals fo 2009″ page in my art journal!!

I am already behind on many of the items, but there is plently of time to catch up!! I had a bad lung infection for the past month, so I definitely have not been doing most of them lol….but its gone now, so I am starting to workout again and we are eating better. I am going to try and update my blog once a week, even if there is nothing going on, so that should cover #3. I am very excited about the idea of getting my art licensed!! Just have to look into it further – like get some books, read some blogs, talk to other artists. Two-Bitt has been on my to-do list for years now, I just don’t know exactly what I want to do with him…I think I will just continue to make things in flash and work on animations.
I am going to re-read Eckhart Tolle’s “A New Earth” to remind myself how to be more present. I have been living up in the clouds again and need some grounding
And last but not least, David and I are going to try for a baby! We are ready for that next step and are super excited about it! We are not going to put pressure on it, but hopefully this year I will become pregnant hehe I am so excited to be a mom!!

Righto, so that’s a breif summary of what’s-up Lindsay-Land
I have other things to talk about, but I will leave them till next post!

I can’t believe its already December!
Where did the time go!?!

Let’s see…..
David and I went to his work Christmas Party last week – sooo much fun!! it was at a fancier place than the other year, so we had to dress up. I rarely wear dresses, so I wanted to find something fun and funky, but that could still be worn to a “black dress” event. Sooooo I checked out my new favourite store Anthropologie and voila! the perfect dress!! lol things there are a wee bit expensive, but it was well worth the money hehe
I also needed some shoes, so I got these cute black ones from Aldo!
All in all, I think I had a pretty fun outfit! lol I wore the glass beaded necklace from my wedding, and some funky swirl hoop earrings to top it off (I am not sure if you can see in the pic, but the bottom part of the dress has polka dots on it!!)

So yah, we had a blast! it was only a 2 hour event (boo) and I have a little too much to drink lol..so maybe it was good it was only 2 hours

Yesterday was like a miracle! we had SNOW!!
omg soo crazy! it was so unexpected and perfect!

I wish it continued all night long, but sadly it stopped and now its all been melted away

I have been working on secret Christmas presents, so I don’t have any art to show you at the moment. I stopped working on my paintings/videos in order to get these gifts done…hopefully I will get back to them soon though! I have some really neat ideas for my videos too.
The new blog layout has been put on hold too. I am really not very good at multitasking lol. I have the sketch of what I want, but I think I will need some help to put it all together….hmmmm
So much to do! and I get so easily distracted! grr

I made a Flickr account last week too – although I have not added all my pics yet. It is kinda overwhelming – so many things to look at!! Very inspiring though

well I guess I should get back to work!

my goodness, I am exhausted!
three days of driving to get to Oregon, arriving on the third day….lol what were David and I thinking!? Next time, we are definetely taking a plane lol
I was lucky and was able to pass-out every once in a while in the car, but David…he had no such luxury lol my poor husband drove the entire way (I do not have a valid drivers license *ugh*). I am so thankful for him! He is so super awesome <3<3
We listened to our new XM radio and an audio book – the second book in Stephen King’s Dark Tower series. I never read the first one, but there was a pretty good explanation at the beginning. We didn’t finish it, but so far so good! I have never read any of Stephen King’s books, so his writing style is new to me – took me a while to get into. It is pretty graphic, especially in the first part of the book. lol David and I can’t stop saying “Did-a-chick? Dum-a-chum? Dad-a-cham?” It just sounds so funny when the voice actor says it hehe

Anywhooo
I got the coat I wanted (woot!!) in Brown – omg it is sooooo nice!! They have a Columbia outlet here in Bend, so we got the coat for half price! I have never had such a nice coat lol I am in love with it!

Next is to get some boots
I saw these at Macy’s and I totally fell inlove with the brand (J-41), but we came across Earth Shoes at a wonderful store downtown – omg they are AMAZING!! they have a negative heel, meaning your toes are higher than your heel, giving you a better posture. They are so incredibly comfy! I am soooo buying these on Zappos (the store didn’t have my size) – lol forget about the boots! I want new cute walking shoes!! hehe

The other thing on our want list is a Nintendo DS Lite – our niece and nephew each have one and they look like soo much fun! They have super great graphics and tons of games to choose from. Dave and I sooooo want one lol – we are totally still children, I know

Well tonight we are opening gifts, so I will write again later, telling you all what we got.

Joyeux Noel tout le monde!!!!!

I am LOVING this weather sooo much!
I actually feel like going out and doing things lol the heat is gone and the cool breeze has stayed!! YAYS!

I finished my first Christmas print this past week – I believe I added it to Etsy on Thursday
I chose to do it all in Photoshop and use a different shading technique. I am soooo proud of little Mr. Mouse!! I must say that the colours for the web-jpg are NOT as bright as they are when printed – sadly the colours I used were not web friendly

I thought it would be fun to show the process of how I made this little drawing, so I took some pics hehe
It began with a very small sketch in my little sketch-book

lol yes there is a water splotch on it but from there I went into Photoshop, brought out my Tablet, and did another sketch

Then came the vector tool – my favourite instrument in these programs it may require alot of point-pushing, but I love the end result!

And finally the shading was added by using a paint brush!

(I chose to keep this one smaller, so when you click it you can see more of the detail.) I think Mr.Mouse is really cute lol He makes me giggle when I look at him – he just looks so happy and proud!!

I was thinking about where I might have come up with the design of Mr.Mouse – he just seemed sooo familiar to me and my husband……then it hit me – its Ginger’s toy!!! lol This is her FAVOURITE toy in the house. We have had it since we got Marzipan, but Ginger seems to be very attached to him. She takes him almost everywhere and keeps him safe from Marzipan lol The tail and whiskers have been chewed off, and hes stained, but she loves him nonetheless!! It’s like her security blanket I suppose She does chew on him, but very gently, and loves to have him sleep beside her on our bed (like in the pics). And as you can see, my little illustration closely resembles this stuffed toy, except mine has a tail lol
Marzipan once had a favourite toy like this, however it was a stuffed pig. She loved to take her frustrations out on him lol she was much more rough than Ginger is with her mouse, and she also loved a toy bear too…..both however did not withstand her chewing, and sadly had to be thrown away (as you can see in the pic, Bear’s eyes had already been pulled off – she likes to blind her prey before eating the rest I guess lol)

Anywho, this blog has had some things added to it – I put more blog links up, by artists which I admire, and I joined the awesome site of Indiepublic, so I added their badge Also, you might notice that I took the Handmade Pledge!! Woot! I really try to uphold that pledge every year – I love to support other artists and crafters. Back in Vancouver I would go to Circle Craft every year, as well as other local craft shows. It was something my mom and I would do together I really miss going. But Etsy is an awesome alternative for Christmas shopping!! So please, buy Handmade everyone!!

Well the sun is still out and the breeze is still blowing, so I think I will try to get some gardening done!
